Scope and Contents Note This collection is composed of five hard-bound diaries of John Langaas. The diaries are dated from November 1909 to June 1924, and are written in Norwegian. The collection also includes handwritten translations of nearly all of the first two bound volumes into English, done by Clara Lee Swanson, and Swanson's research materials, including an article from the Norse Civic News article, a 1992 sermon from one Pastor Skrenes of Trinity Lutheran Church in Ishpeming (Langaas's church), a Trinity...

Scope and Contents note The Jennie Eline Olson diary is a daily diary written during the years 1905-1907 and appears to be a daily log of events in her life. At the time of writing, Jennie would have been between 17 and 19 years old. In the diary she lists the names and birthdates of her parents and people who appear to be her siblings.Her father is identified as Johan Oluf Olson, born March 28, 1856, with no place of birth given. Her mother is identified as Eli and shows a birthdate of January 5, 1864...
