Scope and Contents note

This collection consists of basketball scorebooks from teams coached by or associated with C.V. "Red" Money. Scorebooks from the 1949-1950 season through the 1954-1955 season are for the Northern Michigan University basketball team. Also included are summaries of his basketball and football seasons, a paper written by Money, and plaques honoring him.

Biographical Note

C.V. "Red" Money was born in Jay County, Indiana. He received a B.S. degree from Ohio Northern University (1923), an M.S. degree (1933) and a Dir. P.E. degree (1956) from Indiana University.

Money began his career at Northern Michigan University in 1947. For many years, he was nearly single-handedly responsible for the entire athletic program. Money served as athletic director until 1958, when he became the head of the Department of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation. He expanded the program and established a Master's degree in 1960. Money retired from NMU in 1968. He helped found the U.P. Sports Hall of Fame, served as its executive director, and was inducted in 1976. Money died on March 19, 1977.
