Scope and Contents note

Collection documents the activities of the Cambium Club, a student organization for those majoring, minoring, or interested in the field of biology, or students engaged in social activities and educational programs in biology. The collection includes financial records, constitution, by-laws, brochures and flyers, membership lists, correspondence, newspaper clippings, club meeting minutes (1948-1955). Also includes club newsletters and the Junior Academy News, a publication of the Junior Academy of Science, Arts, and Letters both relating to physical and biological science education and interests. In 1948, the Cambium Club was affiliated with the Junior Academy of Science, Arts, and Letters, a group composed largely of high school students. The Cambium Club became the headquarters for that group in the Upper Peninsula and offered speakers, activities, and a spring fair for science projects.

The Cambium Club was a student organization at Northern Michigan University for those majoring, minoring, or interested in the field of biology, or students engaged in social activities and educational programs in biology. It existed from at least 1938 to 1975. In 1948, the Cambium Club became affiliated with the Junior Academy of Science, Arts, and Letters, a group composed largely of high school students. The Cambium Club became the headquarters for that group in the Upper Peninsula and offered speakers, activities, and a spring fair for high school science projects.
