This collection, MSS-269, Collection of "Anishinaabe News" newsletters, consists of copies of the newsletter published by the Center for Native American Studies (CNAS) at Northern Michigan University (NMU). The collection is separated into series each of which covers one calendar year of publication.

The Center for Native American Studies (CNAS) published the newsletter, "Anishinaabe News." A publication dedicated to featuring Native American-related news, perspectives, and artwork of writers, photographers, and proofreaders, both Native and non-Native.

"Nishnawbe News" began in 1971 and grew to a circulation of more than 8,000, following a decrease in funding the printing of the publication was halted in 1983. 2002 saw the return of the "Anishinaabe News" in a digital format as an online publication by the staff of the Center for Native American Studies.. In October 2005, it made its comeback as a student-run print publication.
