Biographical / Historical

Burton Boyum worked for many years as the chief geologist for Cleveland Cliffs Iron Mining Company. Boyum was also very active in historic preservation and was instrumental in the establishment of the Marquette Iron Range Heritage Theme Park. He researched and wrote extensively on local and regional history. His papers document a range of activities, from personal travel and family gatherings to local history organizations to his years living in Australia while working for the Cleveland Cliffs Iron Mining Company.

1 Cubic Feet (One cubic foot box containing photographs, memorabilia, correspondence, and various paper documents relating to projects and publications Burton Boyum was involved with.) : The photographs are somewhat warped and will need to be flattened if put into folders. All of the papers are in good condition. ; Photos are 4x7 inches and approximately 3x3 inches. Papers are 8.5x11 or newspaper sized.
