Bernice M. Bal scrapbook
This scrapbook created by Bernice M. Bal was donated to the Archives by NMU Professor Russell Magnaghi. It documents her time spent at Northern State Teachers College. The scrapbook includes class schedules, news articles on events on campus and in the community, programs, miscellaneous articles, letters/invitations, and graduating class roster listings.

Scattered papers of James L. Carter including biographical materials; press releases, news clippings, and brochures relating to the Greenwood Nature Center, which was a nature education facility operated by Northern Michigan University during the early 1980s; a summary of activities, list of titles published, and selected memos associated with the NMU Press; and progress reports and correspondence regarding the American Indian Program at Northern during the 1970s.

Geraldine DeFant papers
This collection consists of a taped oral interview with Geraldine Defant conducted by Jennifer Grondin on March 26, 1990, and includes an interview transcription. Of particular note is the interview's coverage of the 1949 H.W. Gossard Company Garment Workers Strike in Ishpeming, Michigan. The collection also includes copies of a scrapbook and photographs. The collection's materials cover the range between 1946-1990.
Priscilla Densmore diary
This collection consists of a single diary written between 1915 and 1919. It describes the social life, family, and academic activities of Priscilla Densmore.
Helen and Ebba Eklund papers
This manuscript collection contains the memorabilia of Helen and Ebba Eklund and their time at Northern, spanning from 1925 until 1941. It is comprised mainly of documents and papers for Sorority events, Rush day and other college-related social events. The collection also contains lists of the college courses and copies of Northern newspapers from 1925-27 and 1934-38.
Elizabeth Mather scrapbook
The collection was originally a black paperbound scrapbook, containing materials dating from 1923 to 1925. Ms. Mather collected programs of commencements, plays, and concerts. Also included are dance cards, letters of invitation, dance memorabilia, and an assortment of class instructions and teaching guides from Northern State Normal School for Fall 1924 and Spring 1925, and several photographs of of Ms. Mather's friends and classmates.
Future Teachers of America Workshop photographs
This collection is comprised of several photographs depicting students and faculty from Northern Michigan University in Marquette, Michigan attending a workshop sponsored by the Future Teachers of America. The photographs are not labeled with identifying information.

Golden Wildcat Club records
This collection documents the activities of the Golden Wildcat Club, a booster organization for Northern Michigan University Athletics in Marquette, Michigan. Records include correspondence, reunion information, the tenth annual hockey reunion (1986), and photographs (prints and negatives). Materials in the collection are dated from 1982 to 1990.
George W. Hager student materials
This collection contains homework, notes, and tests from various classes taken by Hager in the 1940s at Northern Michigan University. The majority of classes are in the sciences or mathematics.

John M. Hogan papers
This collection contains scattered memorabilia, photographs, and newspaper clippings documenting the life of John M. Hogan and his wife during and after their time at Northern Michigan College of Education in Marquette, Michigan. The collection includes a report to the Alumni Advisory Council for alumni association activities in 1939 and Hogan's academic transcript.

ABOUT THIS COLLECTION GUIDE
This collection guide includes collections from member organizations of UPLINK (the Upper Peninsula Digital Network) as well as the Central Upper Peninsula and Northern Michigan University Archives. UPLINK collections document the history of the Upper Peninsula broadly, while the Central UP & NMU Archives focuses on such topics as Northern Michigan University history, the local iron mining industry, and the politics, economics, religion, environment, and culture of the Central Upper Peninsula region.
