Jeannette S. Bowden papers
John Boyd letters
This collection contains three letters written in 1927, 1930, and 1932 from John Boyd in Barcelona, Spain to his cousin Frank Ellison of Marquette, Michigan. The letters include description of life and politics in Barcelona post-World War I; Mussolini and fascism; economics and world depression; predictions concerning war; "talkie films" including the movie, "The Broadway Melody"; and family matters.
Burton H. Boyum papers
This collection documents Boyum's business and travel activities. Records include correspondence, publications, travel memorabilia and documents, financial material, photographs, calendars, and newsclippings.
Briar Hill Mine Shaft blueprint
This collection consists of one blueprint design of a mine shaft for the Briar Hill Mine. The blueprint includes a detailed list of supplies and labor required to sink the shaft. Information includes cost of labor, timber, explosives, cost of fuel, hoistings, blacksmithing and supplies. The shaft was expected to reach a depth of 1,200 feet and take two years for construction. The blueprint is signed by "Captain William Bond" and dated 1911.

This collection consists mainly of Northern Michigan University basketball and football game programs; photographs of teams, athletic activities, and coaches; and news articles related to NMU sports from 1928 to 1992. The collection also includes a football program from 1992.

Scattered papers of James L. Carter including biographical materials; press releases, news clippings, and brochures relating to the Greenwood Nature Center, which was a nature education facility operated by Northern Michigan University during the early 1980s; a summary of activities, list of titles published, and selected memos associated with the NMU Press; and progress reports and correspondence regarding the American Indian Program at Northern during the 1970s.

This is an artificial collection that is comprised of an assortment of vinyl phonographic recordings that are at the Archives and are not parts of other collections.
This collection contains various recordings relevant to the Central Upper Peninsula and Northern Michigan University. These include musical recordings by Mark Mitchell, Mary Kay Lalla and the Fantastics, NMU Wildcat Bands, and eight recordings by the Marquette Choral Society.

C.H. O'Rourke's Livery, Sale, and Boarding Stable records
These ledgers record transactions at a stable in Ontonagon, Michigan. They include such information as the date and time, the name of the person borrowing the horse, the name of the horse, what kinds of vehicles and equipment were borrowed, where the person was going, and the cost.

This collection contains photographs of buildings designed by architect Frederick Charlton throughout the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The photographs are undated but appear to be from the 1920s.

Chiri family photographs
This collection documents Italian-American activities and culture in early twentieth century Negaunee, Michigan. Records include photographic portrait prints of Chiri family members, an Italian men's group (circa 1910), and the Italian Fraternal Mutual Aid Society (1912). The photographs date from 1910 to circa 1919.
Christmas Tree Ship Collection
This collection contains photographs of the Rouse Simmons and the family of its captain, newspaper clippings and a list of resources about the shipwreck, and documentation of the modern memory of the shipwreck, including poetry, photo albums of modern commemorations of the event, and a scrapbook of a musical about the event put on by Gwinn High School.

This collection documents Clarence J. Fabry's World War II military experience as a soldier in the US Army. The collection also includes photographs, some of which appear to have been taken on the front lines.

Martha Clark letter
This collection consists of a letter written by Martha Clark in 1911 that describes the J.D. Pierce Training School's kindergarten room and the children's activities. The letter also describes the teaching of drawing by the teacher, Miss Edwards. The J.D. Pierce Training School was located on the campus of Northern State Normal School (now Northern Michigan University) in Marquette, Michigan and functioned as a training laboratory for student teachers.

ABOUT THIS COLLECTION GUIDE
This collection guide includes collections from member organizations of UPLINK (the Upper Peninsula Digital Network) as well as the Central Upper Peninsula and Northern Michigan University Archives. UPLINK collections document the history of the Upper Peninsula broadly, while the Central UP & NMU Archives focuses on such topics as Northern Michigan University history, the local iron mining industry, and the politics, economics, religion, environment, and culture of the Central Upper Peninsula region.
These finding aids will give you an overview of the contents and context of each collection.
