This collection contains three letters written in 1927, 1930, and 1932 from John Boyd in Barcelona, Spain to his cousin Frank Ellison of Marquette, Michigan. The letters include description of life and politics in Barcelona post-World War I; Mussolini and fascism; economics and world depression; predictions concerning war; "talkie films" including the movie, "The Broadway Melody"; and family matters.
MSS-373 consists of records from the city of Ishpeming, Michigan. The records are a mixture of loose papers and ledgers and cover various aspects of city government from the 1880s through the early 1950s.
This collection contains end of fiscal year reports and audit reports by the different units and departments for the City of Marquette, Michigan. Of interest to the researcher is information provided on early businesses, individuals, and organizations with which the City did business and/or contributed to/supported, such as schools, the public library, and Departmental Reports. The collection's materials range in date from 1899 to 1962.
MSS-176 consists of meeting minutes and agendas created by the Marquette County Board of Commissioners from regular, special, and committee meetings from 1852 through 2005. The records in this collection document the political, economic, and environmental history of Marquette County, Michigan.
MSS-388 consists of records from Ely Township. The records are mainly ledgers. One box contains ledgers from the Ely School District; the other three boxes concern the running of Ely Township, including ledgers with board meeting minutes, financial records, and township audit reports.
This collection is comprised of some of the professional publications of Dr. Fillmore C.F. Earney. The collection's focus is on mining and mineral resources. Of particular note is the report entitled "Marquette County Growth Impact Study (1975)." This report examines the impact of mining operations by the Cleveland Cliffs Iron Mining Company on the population and economic growth of Marquette County.
MSS-398 consists of the personal papers of Jon "Jack" LaSalle from the 1980s and 1990s. They include papers from his time on the Marquette County Labor Council, the Upper Peninsula Labor Management Council, the Marquette County Democratic Party and more.
Includes historical information on the city of Marquette, Michigan and institutions and organizations located in the city.
The collection consists mainly of ledgers. There are minutes from township board meetings, treasurers' reports, voter registration ledgers, assessment rolls, and a 1938 property inventory.
